International Program

West River Academy enrolls students in countries all over the world.

We understand that home educating families may benefit from having the legal backing of an accredited private school in the United States. We can offer you customized assistance to meet your specific need.

In some countries, we have representatives that can assist families with local and legal issues, as well as with questions about enrollment in West River Academy. They also can coach families who are just getting started with homeschooling/unschooling.

Students wishing to graduate from high school with an accredited high school diploma and transcript are invited to join our Graduation Program. This is a writing project which is begun 6 months before the student graduates.

With their accredited diplomas and transcripts, our graduates have pursued business and technology careers, agriculture, sports, arts and entertainment fields, entrepreneurship, military service, college, university, and technical and vocational schools.

In the US, our academic year begins on August 1. You may enroll for the US academic year or the academic year of your country.  In many South American countries, for example, the academic year begins in February.

After you enroll, you will receive an official confirmation of enrollment. See the sample at right. It can be notarized and legalized with an Apostille if necessary. We will then assist you to withdraw your children from school by requesting that their school records be transferred to us.

You will have the flexibility to customize your own educational program or purchase services from any source that can assist you. We support all home-learning methods including unschooling, child-led learning, life learning, relaxed homeschooling, unit studies, eclectic homeschooling, as well as state-approved curriculum. Learn more about Our Unschooling Perspective.

Grade reports/transcripts can be ordered at the end of each school year. The transcript will be in English and will use the grading system of the US. It can then be notarized and sent for an Apostille (for members of The Hague Convention) or legalized.

“I realize many beautiful things happened this year. Even if Nicanor wants to go back to school, I’m happy for this break, which allowed us to feel free to experience, to learn, to be together. And I’m thankful to you, for providing us the context to do this.”
