Transcripts and Grade Reports
West River Academy produces an official 4-year transcript for each graduating student, if desired.* It is included in the High School Diploma Program fee and can be requested up to one year after the graduation date. It includes the student's courses, final grades and credits for grades 9-12, as well as the total number of credits and cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA). The official seal and the notation of accreditation is on the transcript.
The transcript can be notarized and certified by Apostille for international students.
The family submits the course names, letter grades and number of credits for the transcript. An Excel spreadsheet formatted template will be emailed to you to use. After you fill it out and return it to us, we will give you our feedback and assist you in finalizing the transcript.
The rule of thumb for one credit is 150 hours of study/activity in an area or the equivalent of a one-year course in high school. A half credit would be given for 75 hours or a semester-long high school course. The course names can be subjects studied in a curriculum, high school class, college class, Internet class, etc. They can also be derived from knowledge gained through life experiences.
For help in selecting names for courses, please go to the Course Names page at this site. If you would like us to work with you in developing the contents of the transcript, we can set up a special consultation (for an additional consultation fee) for that purpose. The number of credits recommended for a final transcript is 25. The course distribution is generally 4 credits of English; 2-3 of History, Science and Math; 2 of PE; a half of Health and US Government; and the rest are electives.
Official grade reports and one-, two- or three-year transcripts can also be produced if the student wishes to transfer to another school or for the family's personal records. The family submits the information to be put on the transcript.
Upon request, a transcript or grade report can be sent to a school or college.
*HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS PLEASE NOTE:
Only those students who go through our High School Diploma Program are eligible to graduate from West River Academy. Students desiring a 4-year transcript who do not complete this Program may pay the 4-year transcript fee and receive a transcript. However, the transcript will include the following notation: "John Doe did NOT meet the requirements for graduation from West River Academy."
